Free to Feed, Inc. Raises $600k in Pre-Seed Funding to Manufacture the First Allergen-Detection Technology for Human Milk
Women Veteran-founded biotechnology company Free to Feed, Inc. announced its relocation to Research Triangle Park and successful close of pre-seed round financing, setting the stage to bring their food allergen test kit to market.
A molecular biologist by trade, co-founder and CEO Trillitye Paullin, Ph.D. (Dr. Trill), is forging the way with science-based solutions for parents of food allergic children. “My passion is to provide the support that my own family lacked when navigating our two daughter’s allergy diagnosis as infants. We have patented the technology for parents to analyze their breast milk for allergenic proteins within minutes and now it is time to bring it to market for families everywhere.”
Founded in 2018, Free to Feed’s laboratory research, mobile app, and services (provided in three languages and counting) have already helped thousands of children around the world. The company has secured its place as a staple resource in the breastfeeding and food allergy communities alike with the goal of fundamentally shifting how we understand early immune development and food allergy support.
Beyond capital investment, Free to Feed is looking for partnerships to expand the areas of expertise within the business. Fields of particular interest include, but are not limited to, maternal health, app enabled devices, immunology, DTC marketing, and distribution.
Pre-seed round investors, SOSV, shared their experience with Free to Feed quoting, “At SOSV, one of our core missions is the advancement of human health, and over the past decade or more, we’ve pursued that mission in fields as varied as cancer therapeutics, CRISPR diagnostic platforms, and remote healthcare. We are thrilled to support Free to Feed through their journey to provide better solutions for nursing mothers of food intolerant infants. We will continue to leverage our extensive network of investors and industry professionals to further strengthen the company’s ability to improve lives through allergy friendly breastfeeding,” Stephen Chambers, Partner and Managing Director of IndieBio New York, part of SOSV.
“In building Free to Feed, our focus has been creating a well rounded team to ensure success. We have the technology and product portfolio to support significant growth and choosing the right strategic partners is the next step as we move towards commercial launch.” Co-Founder and COO, Dr. LaChiana Hamilton states, “SOSV brings the perfect combination of technical and industry expertise while sharing Free to Feed’s mission of empowering parents through early feeding.”
